Custom Software Development
Software designed around how your business actually works: one system in place of the spreadsheets, WhatsApp groups and disconnected tools your team uses today.
Short answer
A2Z Global is a custom software development company in Karachi, Pakistan, building business systems for companies in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, the USA and Pakistan. We design and build ERP and CRM systems, web applications, customer portals, mobile apps and integrations around a company's own process, quote each project as one fixed written price, and hand over the source code.
Key takeaways
- Custom software pays back when your process is unusual, spans tools that do not connect, or when per-user licence fees keep growing.
- Every project starts with a written scope and one fixed price, and is delivered in stages you can use.
- You own the result: source code, database, hosting and accounts are in your company's name.
- One team designs, builds, tests, deploys and supports the system, from one office in Karachi.
What problems custom software solves
Most companies come to us with the same few problems, whatever their industry. The work is spread across spreadsheets that disagree with each other. Orders arrive on WhatsApp and are typed into two or three places. The accounting package and the operation never match at month end. Nobody can see the state of the business without asking three people. Off-the-shelf products solve part of this, and then stop at the point where your process differs from everyone else's.
| The problem | What we build | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| Operations run on spreadsheets | An ERP: stock, sales, purchasing and accounts in one system | ERP and CRM systems |
| Leads and follow-ups get lost | A CRM matched to your sales process | CRM or a spreadsheet |
| Customers keep asking for updates | A customer portal with orders, documents and status | Web development |
| Field staff work on paper | A mobile app that works offline and syncs | Mobile app development |
| Staff retype data between systems | Integrations and automation between the tools you keep | AI and automation |
| A software idea to sell to others | A SaaS product, starting with a focused first version | MVP features to build first |
Custom or off the shelf?
We regularly tell people who enquire that they do not need custom software yet. If your process is standard and a product already fits it, buy the product. Custom software makes sense when the way you work is part of why customers choose you, when you are paying for many user licences to use a fraction of a product, or when the systems you need to connect have no connector. Custom ERP versus off-the-shelf and the signs you need custom software go through the decision in detail.
How a project runs
Our custom software development process
Discovery
We talk to the people who do the work, map the process as it really runs, including the exceptions, and agree what the first version must do.
Written scope and fixed quote
You receive the scope, the stages, the timeline and one price in writing before any work starts.
Design
Screens and flows are designed and reviewed with the people who will use them, so changes happen on paper rather than in code.
Build in stages
The system is built one module at a time. Each stage is shown to you on a working link, not described in a status report.
Testing
Every stage is tested against real examples of your data and your edge cases, by us and then by your team.
Go-live and migration
Existing data is cleaned, imported and checked, your staff are trained, and the old process runs alongside until the new one is trusted.
Support
Monitoring, backups, security updates and changes continue under a support agreement with agreed response times.
Technology we use
We choose well-established technology that other developers can maintain, so you are never tied to us. Web systems are built with React and Next.js on the front end and Node.js with PostgreSQL behind them. Mobile apps are built with React Native or Flutter, so one codebase serves both iOS and Android. Automation and AI features use Python and language-model APIs. Systems are hosted on mainstream cloud platforms in an account that belongs to you.
Quality, security and maintenance
- Roles and permissions from the first version: each person sees and changes only what their job requires.
- An audit trail of who changed what and when, on every record that matters.
- Tested backups. A backup that has never been restored is a hope, so restores are rehearsed.
- Security basics done properly: encrypted connections, hashed passwords, dependency updates and least-privilege access. See business software security basics.
- Code you can take elsewhere: typed, version-controlled and documented, in a repository you own.
- Honest running costs. Hosting, licences and support are stated before you commit. See what software costs after launch.
What decides the cost
There is no honest price for custom software before the scope is known, which is why every project gets a fixed written quote after discovery. As a guide, custom ERP platforms and mobile apps for international clients typically fall between $5,000 and $50,000 or more, depending on scope. What moves the number is predictable.
| Factor | Lower cost | Higher cost |
|---|---|---|
| Scope | One process, done well | Several departments at once |
| Users and roles | A few roles with similar screens | Many roles with different permissions and approvals |
| Integrations | None, or one with a good API | Several systems, or older ones without an API |
| Data migration | Clean data from one source | Years of inconsistent records from many files |
| Platforms | Web only | Web plus iOS and Android apps |
| Compliance | Standard invoicing | E-invoicing, multi-entity or multi-currency accounting |
Starting with one module and adding the next once it is in daily use keeps the first invoice small and means the system starts earning before it is finished.
Working with a team in another country
We have one office, in Karachi, and we work with clients in the Gulf, the UK and the USA remotely. We say that plainly because it is also why our rates are what they are. In practice you get a named point of contact, calls on Zoom, Teams or WhatsApp, a written scope, and a working link you can open at any time. Pakistan is one hour ahead of the UAE, two ahead of Saudi Arabia, four to five ahead of the UK and nine to ten ahead of US Eastern time, so Gulf and UK clients overlap most of our day and US clients get calls in their morning. Systems are built for your country's rules, such as VAT in the UAE and UK and ZATCA e-invoicing in Saudi Arabia. Our locations pages explain what changes by market.

Questions buyers ask first
How much does custom software development cost?
It depends on scope, the number of user roles, integrations, data migration and platforms. For international clients, custom ERP platforms and mobile apps typically fall between $5,000 and $50,000 or more. Every project gets one fixed written quote after a discovery call, before any work begins.
How long does a custom software project take?
A focused first version, such as one ERP module or a mobile app MVP, usually takes 6 to 12 weeks. Larger systems are delivered in stages, so the first module is in daily use long before the whole system is finished.
Who owns the source code?
You do. The source code, database, hosting account, domain and app store accounts are set up in your company's name, and the code is in a repository you control.
Can you work with our existing software?
Yes. We build integrations with accounting packages, online stores, payment gateways and courier systems through their APIs, and we can extend or gradually replace an existing system instead of rewriting everything at once.
Is custom software right for a small business?
Sometimes. If a standard product fits your process, it is cheaper and faster. Custom software suits a small business when one specific process is costing real hours every week and no product handles it, and in that case we build only that process first.
What happens after the software is launched?
The system moves onto a support plan covering monitoring, backups, security updates and changes, with agreed response times. You can also take the code to another team at any point, because you own it.
